NEUFELD ON BOOKS: Writer gives his controversial take on the Gr...

Mr. Eason:

Your opinion has been noted.

However ...the term 'mud-crawlers' seems a bit harsh ...particularly coming from someone who had worked at KGO in San Francisco. I am certain that Cecil Bothwell will feel honored to be included with all the other muck rakers who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit if the truth. I am left to assume that your high school term paper might have led you to being an active participant in journalism ...and knee deep in the mud. In the 21st Century ...the 'blogosphere' helps 'everyday common-folk' to share the wealth inherent in honoring the FIRST AMENDMENT by actually using it ...which must delight the spirit of those who added it to The Untied States Constitution.

As of 'now'...I have only read 3 chapters in Cecil Bothwell's newest book. I have found 'Prince of War' to be thoughtfully written ...and exhaustively researched. Bothwell's lifetime of journalistic work reveals his passion for truth and a desire to share his take on political, spiritual and common sense matters ...after having lived more than a half century in this often complex and troubling world. I have read his other books and must conclude that Western North Carolina and Asheville ...and the entire world (via radio & the web) has been ...and is ...well served by what you call a 'mud-crawler'. Long live Cecil Bothwell ...and all of the FIRST AMENDMENT PATRIOTS ...who take the time to do what we all should do ...stand up and actually DO SOMETHING ...by SPEAKING TRUTH TO POWER.

And ...I join you in wishing the best for Dr. Graham. I am sure that he and his family will appreciate the fact that Bothwell has spent 5 thoughtful and carefully researched years helping them to come to terms with their place in history ...and help in guiding their prayers ...as they admit to their many human frailties and ask for GOD's forgiveness for their excesses and mistakes.

Here's to MUD CRAWLERS everywhere!
